{"id":18247,"date":"2021-03-01T18:11:52","date_gmt":"2021-03-01T21:11:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.eesc.usp.br\/comunicacao\/?p=18247"},"modified":"2021-03-01T20:16:41","modified_gmt":"2021-03-01T23:16:41","slug":"course-online-on-frontiers-in-production-engineering-for-undergraduate-students","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/eesc.usp.br\/comunicacao-admin\/?p=18247","title":{"rendered":"Course online on \u201cFrontiers in Production Engineering\u201d for undergraduate students"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><em><u>Summary<\/u>:<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>A semester course on-line in English for undergraduate students: from April 15th to July 29th, 2021 (Thursdays, from 16:00 to 18:00 &#8211; Brazilian time &#8211; BRT = GMT \u2013 03:00).<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Classes will be on every Thursday afternoon in the regular Brazilian time totalizing 15 classes. The students will engage themselves in both synchronous and asynchronous activities that include pre-class readings and tasks, discussions, and project-based learning in teams.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>About the Course:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The course is an initiative of the Department of Production Engineering, S\u00e3o Carlos School of Engineering (EESC), University of S\u00e3o Paulo (USP).<\/p>\n<p>The course aims to study and develop up-to-date content related to Production Engineering to contribute to the future professional and personal performance of the undergraduate students. It intends to discuss technologies for Industry 4.0, Agile Supply Chain, Multicriteria Decision-Making (MCDM) Techniques applied to Operations Management, Circular Economy applied to Operations Management, and Change Management in Operations Management. For each topic, the students will work on teams and prepare a short presentation after each Professor\u2019s lecture.<\/p>\n<p>The proposal is to integrate international undergrad students from different countries in the same class for the course, to share learning experiences on novel topics. Due to the format (online and in English), it is expected the increasing diversity in the classes and, in this way, to enrich the learning experience for all students.<\/p>\n<p>If you are an undergraduate student and are interested in this opportunity, we would like to invite you to take part. S\u00e3o Carlos is a city of 250 thousand inhabitants located 150 miles away from S\u00e3o Paulo. In S\u00e3o Carlos, you will find two of the most important Brazilian public universities: the University of S\u00e3o Paulo and the Federal University of S\u00e3o Carlos. The city is a national center of technology and science and there is one doctor for 135 inhabitants, the highest rate among other cities in the whole Latin America.<\/p>\n<p>S\u00e3o Carlos Campus of USP is technologically-oriented including, besides the Engineering School, the Institutes of Architecture, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, and Computing Sciences. The EESC has about 3,000 undergraduate and more than 1,000 graduate enrolled students. 200 professors and 300 staff members take care of these students in 10 undergraduate courses and 11 graduate programs.<\/p>\n<p>Every year, international rankings have been classifying the University of S\u00e3o Paulo as the first or second-best University in Latin America. However, more important than being the best, we want to be good for society. Looking to be successful on this, we focus on three main pillars: research, teaching, and outreach activities. Internationalization is also one of our main strategic goals.
