At\u00e9 a primeira quinzena de agosto de 2026 a professora Pilar Fern\u00e1ndez-Ib\u00e1\u00f1ez da Ulster University<\/strong> (UK) visitar\u00e1 a EESC-USP desenvolvendo diversas atividades previstas dentro do aux\u00edlio FAPESP (2025\/00185-8), sob responsabilidade da professora Lyda Patricia Sabogal Paz, do Departamento de Hidr\u00e1ulica e Saneamento (SHS).<\/p>\n

Dentro das atividades, a docente ministrar\u00e1 uma disciplina condensada no Programa de P\u00f3s-gradua\u00e7\u00e3o em Engenharia Hidr\u00e1ulica e Saneamento (PPG-SHS) intitulada SHS5992-Solar Water Technologies and Advanced Oxidation Processes for Water Treatment and Wastewater Reuse e<\/em>, tamb\u00e9m, prover\u00e1 uma palestra titulada \u201cSolar technologies to provide drinking water for isolated communities\u201d e, ainda, desenvolver\u00e1 atividades de pesquisa vinculadas ao aux\u00edlio FAPESP (2025\/00185-8), incluindo reuni\u00f5es com especialistas de diversas \u00e1reas da EESC, do IQSC e da UFSCar de interesse aos Objetivos de Desenvolvimento Sustent\u00e1vel 3 e 6, visando colabora\u00e7\u00f5es em projetos de pesquisa internacionais futuros.<\/p>\n

A disciplina SHS5992-Solar Water Technologies and Advanced Oxidation Processes for Water Treatment and Wastewater Reuse<\/em> ser\u00e1 ministrada no anfiteatro do Departamento de Hidr\u00e1ulica e Sanamento (SHS) da EESC-USP, no per\u00edodo da manh\u00e3, entre 10 e 14 de agosto de 2026. A disciplina ainda pode ser matriculada por alunos de p\u00f3s-gradua\u00e7\u00e3o interessados, diretamente da secretaria do PPG-SHS, at\u00e9 7 de agosto de 2026.<\/p>\n

A palestra \u201cSolar technologies to provide drinking water for isolated communities<\/em>\u201d ser\u00e1 proferida em 14 de agosto \u00e0s 11 horas no Anfiteatro do Laborat\u00f3rio LATAR do SHS-EESC-USP. A palestra contar\u00e1 com 40 vagas abertas \u00e0 comunidade USP e ao p\u00fablico geral e para assistir \u00e9 requerida inscri\u00e7\u00e3o pr\u00e9via, utilizando o formul\u00e1rio abaixo.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Sobre a docente<\/strong><\/p>\n

Professor of Environmental Engineering at Ulster University and previously Head of Group at Plataforma Solar de Almer\u00eda of CIEMAT (Spain). Her research focuses on low-cost technologies for water purification and advanced oxidation processes for the removal of pollutants from water. Pilar is an experienced researcher in low-cost drinking water disinfection solutions for the Global South and solar water treatment. Received grant funding from\u00a0UKRI, EU-Research Programmes and the Royal Society\u00a0for her research\u00a0in\u00a0Latin America, Asia, and Europe.<\/p>\n

Pilar has authored 195 peer-reviewed publications, some of which are key to her topic. Member of the Royal Irish Academy, a Fellow of the Institute of Physics, Member of the REF 2029 Panel for Engineering, and the committee for Climate Change and Environmental Sciences of the Royal Irish Academy. Executive Editor of the Journal of Photochemistry & Photobiology A and Editor of the Journal of Environmental Chemical Engineering. She was awarded the Distinguished Research Award University Champion (2021) and the Water for Life Award 2025 by the Royal Society of Chemistry.<\/p>\n
